Donnelley Civil, the Illawarra’s longest operating civil, industrial and hire business, has launched a new business in a nod to its original service offering back in 1958: Donnelley Hire.
Donnelley Hire is a new, dedicated dry and wet hire business, providing operators and contractors across the region with access to earthmoving equipment, excavators, backhoes and attachments to suit a wide range of project needs.
The business has come about in response to increasing demand for high-quality machinery for hire by local businesses and contractors – both as straight equipment hire and for hire with a professional machine operator to meet specific needs.
“My father started this business in 1958, and back then, his main service was to provide the hire of air compressors and industrial equipment to people who needed quality machinery. Over the last six decades, Donnelley has grown to cover a wide range of civil and industrial project services. Donnelley Hire is our new hire business, with a fully-dedicated team of experienced managers to help our customers access the right machinery for their projects,” says Stephen Donnelley, Director of Donnelley Hire.
From 3.5tonne excavators for small landscaping and building projects through to rippers, hammers and compactors for major earthworks and civil projects, Donnelley Hire will provide Illawarra customers with access to a wide range of modern, fully-serviced equipment, giving peace of mind with their quality of gear, every time.
“Customer service is always front of mind for us – a business value instilled into the company by my father over many years. Today, we’ve got a team of more than 50 people across the business, and Donnelley Hire will be overseen by Javier Ayala, who brings more than 20 years of experience to the role. We know firsthand how important reliable equipment is, and I’m proud to be giving Donnelley a renewed focus on its equipment hire roots,” says Stephen.
“The range of equipment available today is worlds away from the kind of machinery my father was hiring out back in the 1950s and 1960s. Modern equipment with the right attachments means increased maneuverability, increased safety and reduced overheads. It’s an exciting time to be focusing on equipment hire, especially with so much development happening within our region.”
Zac Cooper, Project Coordinator at Ground Stabilisation Systems (GSS), says they’ve been hiring equipment from Donnelley for a stabilisation project in Mount Kembla, liaising with Ermanno Raso from Donnelley Hire:
“Donnelley Hire has been extremely helpful with helping us deliver our project requirements. I look forward to working with Ermanno and the team in the future.”
Donnelley Hire officially launched on Friday, 1 April 2022.
